According to the news, this winter is the first time in history that there has been a nationwide outbreak of the flu. Every year there’s some new strain that pops up somewhere (swine flus, bird flus, Asian and Spanish flus…) but this year seems to be so bad that it’s even affecting dogs. And while I don’t claim to have a cure, I do have a batch of Papa’s Fire Cider ready! We all got sick last week too, but this stuff seemed to do the trick! It’s made with traditional blood cleansers and immune boosters, and by George it helped! I’ll be starting another batch soon, but it takes a month to make. So if you’d like a bottle or two, let us know before they’re all gone. It’s a much tastier way to take apple cider vinegar, and has all the added benefits from the other ingredients. And if you’ve tried any of the other batches, this one’s a bit less spicy.

Who doesn’t love breakfast!? Well, me actually. And if you’re anything like me you’re the type of person who rarely eats before noon. But January is also National Oatmeal Month, and in keeping with the spirit of New Year’s Resolutions… It’s high time that change! While breakfast foods are highly delicious, (pancakes, waffles, bacon, breakfast burritos… oh my!) oatmeal offers something that most breakfasts don’t… health benefits! Oats are among the healthiest grains on earth. They are a gluten-free whole grain and a great source of important vitamins, minerals, fiber and antioxidants. They provide a great source of energy that breaks down slowly throughout the day to help make that energy last longer. Oats are even credited with assisting weight loss, lowering blood sugar levels, and reducing the risk of heart disease. Plus there are endless ways to add flavor and pizzazz to that most ordinary of breakfast foods: fruits, honey, yogurt, eggs… you name it!
