It’s a “Caddyshack” problem!

When we first moved to our property, we noticed one hill had prairie dogs!  Oh, they WERE so cute, fat little critters and we enjoyed watching them run from hole to hole.  It didn’t take long to realize what a menace they really were and we knew we had to get rid of them.  We seemingly got rid of them from the hill, but now the stinkin little critters are taking over in our GREENHOUSE! It’s warm, there’s food!  Oh, this just has to end!!  Since we cannot use any type of chemicals, I spoke with a man at a local hardware and lumber place about the issue.  He told me a lot of people come in and buy these sonic spikes to get rid of other rodents, including skunks around their homes.  It has seemed to work for them.

Since we are “off-grid” and do not have electricity to our greenhouse, these sonic spikes run off of D batteries, which was perfect!  The package comes with two of them (you need to buy your own batteries) and between them they are to cover a space of 15,000 sqft and operate in a circular manner, approximately 95′ in diameter!  Even more perfect!

I dug up holes, actually the holes and tunnels these menaces were already digging so they got a clear earfull, then buried them.  I rakes up all of their fresh dirt piles, so that when I go out to check things tomorrow, I will know if they’re still digging things up or moving.  The package says that the spikes must be used continuously for 7-14 days before ground rodents start to move away from the area.  So, I will keep you posted on the progress!
